: The Proud Dad
Can I brag? My daughter, the college graduate. Cum Laude, no less.
There are grownup children living in my house. It’s a strange sensation. Some say that when you know you’re about to die your whole life flashes in front of you. I’m not of that opinion. I think if you’re about to die you wake up because it’s only a dream. Right? So far it’s worked for me every time.
But I was trying to make some sort of point here. Right. When I look at my kids, it’s the reverse. I see their whole lives flashing before me. I see them being born, I see them crawling around the house in diapers, I see then going off to their first day of pre-school, I see them getting drunk (well some things I’d rather not have seen). It’s hard to separate out all these thoughts when they ask you for the car keys or when they tell you that they’re going off to spend three days down in Tennessee.
Hannah – I’m so proud of you. You’ve worked so hard, you struggled over those term papers, you sweated out tests, and you got that degree. You’re gonna do just great. I love you.
Oh, and yes. If you need a lift from the auto repair shop on Monday, I’ll gladly come get you.

July 21, Saturday, 7:00-9:00ish PM – Arne Englund, Ruthie’s BBQ, 64 1/2 Chestnut Ave, Montclair (973) 509-1134
Arne & I did a duo show back in April. This time around, Arne is bringing in a full band and (weather permitting) we’ll be playing out on the patio. Arne Englund is a fine guitarist/singer who hails from western Jersey – and he is going to make the long trek over to the suburbs. Please stop by and make him feel welcome in the land of sidewalks.

July 26, Thursday, 7:00-1:00ish PM – 43rd Anniversary Tribute to Woodstock, Mexacali Blues, 1409 Queen Anne Road Teaneck, NJ 07666 (201) 833-0011
This is a repeat performance of a popular show that I was in back in 2009. Nikki Armstrong is hosting an exceptional roster of musicians as we recreate the sounds and feel of Woodstock – minus the bad acid, mud, and rain For this show I will be in the house band playing a supporting role, so if you show up mid show and don’t see me on stage, it’s likely I’m just taking a break. I will also be doing my world famous version of a Ravi Shankar sitar raga on the piano – early on in the show. So get ready for Santana, The Band, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, etc. Mexacali Blues has an excellent kitchen – I am partial to the Pork Crioll. Doors open at 6, the music starts at 7. Admission is $20.
