Al Gold is a mainstay of the North Jersey blues circuit. I’ve had the privilege of playing with him and his band – the Suburban Rhythm Kings – as well as sitting in at his legendary blues jams sessions at Hat City in Orange, NJ. So I was honored and flattered when he asked me to play keys on his album.
Blues & Roots: Ancient to Modern. From New Jersey to New Orleans to Chicago, west coast and back again, Al has had the opportunity to play and learn from many greats, starting as a student in the early 1970s in Hartford, CT and Chicago, IL. With this release, he’s here with his band, The Suburban Rhythm Kings (and more!) to try to define what NJ Blues and Roots music should sound like.
